Here We Go!!!

**disclaimer: This is my first ever blog post so please bear with me through the unorganized ramblings**.............

WOW! If you had told us that we would be adopting a year ago I would have probably said that you're crazy. Top that off with, "you are adopting from Africa" and I would have probably laughed. BUT...here we are. Application accepted by our agency, knee deep in paperwork for our home study, and staring at a to-do-list a mile long and a financial mountain the size of Mount Everest. All this to get our adoption from the Dem. Rep. of Congo completed and our little girl home. We are CRAZY! We must be. Would you not have to be to travel across the world to fight for the individual survival of one child and accept them into your family as your own? And you know what else is crazy? We are not completely sure if she is born yet or not, but we already love her. I know there hasn't been a day go by since we made this decision that I have not prayed for her or the birth mother who is carrying her in her belly. Why International adoption? Why the Congo? There is too much to say. I will cover these in later posts. I am sure Jessica will write about this one day herself but before we made this decision, it seemed like we faced road block after road block on family issues. Since then things have straightened out and doors have opened. I want to quote from another blog I read the other day. Her family is adopting from Ethiopia. She makes a statement in her blog that says, "147 million orphans in the world today tells me that there are probably about 147 million Christians who have not asked God what He would have them do for the orphan". We can't change the world but we can change the world for one.

I love this scripture -
Psalm 68:6 (Amplified Bible)
"God places the solitary in families and gives the desolate a home in which to dwell"

God has laid it on our hearts to adopt. This decision has not been made lightly as some we know might think but, it has been made with a lot of prayer and discussion. We know we are doing what God wants us to do and what is best for our family. He will provide and we are trusting in Him for all. I hope this made some kind of sense and keep us in your prayers as we continue in this journey.

Also, please feel free to comment or ask us any questions you may have. I am still working on this so let me know if something isn't working correctly or looks weird.
